1) Dead accuracy - when switching between weapons, the first shot fired, at the instant you can fire is ALWAYS exactly where your crosshairs are aimed.
2) Surprise your enemies - at the beginning of each round, always switch to your knife because you run fastest with the knife out (unless you are Undead Scourge). You can surprise your enemies by rushing them.
3) Reload during firefight=dead - NEVER reload your primary weapon during a firefight. You should switch to your secondary (pistol) because it takes less time. If you don't use the "Q" key to switch between last weapon... learn. You have a pistol for a reason, USE IT.
4) Reload usually=dead - Try not to reload too often. If you have at least 10 in your clip, don't reload, UNLESS you know you are in a safe area, away from enemies.
5) Use all your senses - I can't tell you how often I've killed people through walls by pre-firing. If you have a stereo sound card, and stereo headphones, you can hear where people are, relative to your position. In addition, many maps have sound sensitive environments. Doors, ladders, and even the ground can be used to give away an enemies position. If you don't use headphones when you play CS... you might as well keep your eyes closed too.
6) Stealth, be like a ninja - CS controls include a "walk" button. Because sounds can give away your position, use the walk function whenever you know an enemy is close by. Also, for ladders, you can climb a ladder silently by pointing your crosshairs slightly down from the center position and then walking toward the ladder.
7) Opening doors to success - If you line yourself up sideways to a door, facing the hinge side, and then walk into the door sideways, facing slightly away you can open the door "out." This is especially helpful when the opened door blocks your view of the interior room.
8) Don't be an easy target - The CS manual tells you that crouching will increase your accuracy. This is mostly true, however, standing still only makes you an easier target. Instead, try strafing back and forth to make the enemy readjust their aim.
9) Walls... what are they good for - I get called a hacker because I kill so many people through walls. If you use your sound cues, and adjust your aim to pre-fire through walls with any rifle or the deagle, you can usually critically wound, immobilize or sometimes kill your enemy when they retreat behind a wall for cover. This takes practice, but when you can anticipate how far any enemy retreats behind a wall and pre-fire through the wall, you will laugh at the nubs who call you a hacker.
10) Columbian necktie - When knifing, you can score a headshot on your enemy by aiming NOT at the head, but rather at the NECK. I'm not sure why this works, but I think it has something to do with the way the character models are created and how the game registers hits.
I hope this tutorial helps some of you, and if you already know these things... you're probably already better than me anyway. Either way...
Happy fragging,
